alright so i came home from college for the weekend and i noticed that i no longer have the wireless internet icon on my network connections page...we have wireless interent here my dads laptop uses it....how can i create this icon again so it will connect?

Control panel
internet and network connections
network connections
right click the wireless connection and select properties
Check at the bottom to be sure the show wireless icon command is checked.
You may while you're in that window have to set up for your home wireless system.

there is no wireless connection to right click on....here ill show you

Have you tried to make a new wireless connection? Should be able to select that from the left hand menus.

it says ive made one but then the icon still doenst show up..this is so lame

Has anyone been messing with your pc while you have been away? Ask what they have been doing with it. Does the wireless show up in device manager?

nope no one has used my computer....no it does not show up on my device manager

Welll thats your problem.
If its not in device manager then windows doesnt know you have a wireless NIC, thus no icon.

Is the wireless nic a PCI card? Is the a Desktop or laptop?

If its a card then it probably needs reseated, thats why you cant see it in device manager, and thats why you cant access it. Basically, its not connected.

yeah, if it is a pcimia/pci card, pull it out, and stick it back in. also, are you loggiong on to your computer the same way?
