I have XP and I also got a 250gb Harddrive, is it possible for me to have both on the same drive? If so how could I do this?

What you do is you make two partitions. Install Windows on one. Then install Linux on the other. If you need it more in depth just ask me. I am kind of short on time.

ok im an idiot when it comes to all this stuff but heres what I got, 2 partitions on my comp XP on one, and I dont know how to install Ubununtu on the other

put in the ubuntu dvd and start the installation. Ubuntu has a pretty simple installation, it will ask you which partition you want to use and will give you options. Just choose the free partition (which has no OS) and you should be good to go.

And since you already have windows installed you won't have any problems using the bootloader, ubuntu automatically installs grub.

It will prompt to format the second partition though, so make sure you backup your files!
