ubuntu help

okay.. i juss recently made a new partition on my hd so i could choose between ubuntu and xp. i use firefox on xp and it connects to the net fine. i try to connect and browse with firefix on my ubuntu and it doesent connect. could somebody plz help me? i connect through a cable modem. could this be the reason why?

In Firefox, try the following.

In the address bar, type about:config. Then, in the Filter box that appears, type ipv6 and double click on the result that shows up. Then try accessing Google or something.
