I can't believe people still want to argue that AMD's are faster than the new core2duo's. The midrange E6600 is faster than AMD's top of the line model the FX-62 without overclocking. Not to mention the core2duo's are far more overclockable.

well this is gaming computer, but i think the c2ds are better for everything atm.
not sure what u mean about the ram rudster...
the way i see it, im not gonna need more than 2gb atm, so i might aswell make it a good 2gb rather than a slower 4gb of ram.

@MattieDaShark83: i have no idea about overclocking, never done it before, sounds really risky to me as i could damage my hardware, i appreciate you trying to help though, thnx

just a side note, i keep hearing about watercooling.
will i need water cooling with this, or if i do decide to OC will i need it?
or can my case handle all the cooling needs?

You don't need to worry about watercooling unless your doing extreme overclocking. I'll recommend the Zalman 9700 cooler. Check my review thread below. If your not doing any overclocking the stock cooler should be alright. As far as overclocking being risky its only risky when you up the Vcore and get higher temps. Just keep it below 60C and your good. I recently read a review stating the core2duo's don't actually start throttling till 85C! But 60C is the Max recommended. Most will not go above 20% max Vcore so that would be 1.55V Stock is 1.35 Just monitor your temp you can run the E6600 easy at 3.0Ghz stable. Faster than the Extreme edition 1/3rd the cost. All you need to do is increase the FSB in your bios. Example FSB=1066/ intel quad pumped 4=266.5 X9 Multiplier = 2400MHz or 2.4GHz So if you increase this to say 1333/4=333.25X9 = 3000Mhz or 3.0Ghz. Just step the bios in increments of 10 till you hit a wall. Go back to the last working setting and increase by 1. When you can't go any further you'll have to up the Vcore. Each time you would increase the FSB you would want to bench your system make sure its stable and monitor temps. As long as you go in small steps you'll be fine.

Technically, you should only increase it by small increments, but with the E6600, with aftermarket cooling, you can probably start with the FSB at about 333 MHz (makes it 3 GHz) because it's so overclockable.

Yeah, that's good, although it's kind of overpriced. You might be able to get there with the sotck cooler, but it would be iffy.

3Ghz is about as high as your going to get with the stock cooler. I got mine to 2902Mhz then decided against going higher until I got different cooling. There are plenty of different coolers to choose from. I just posted a update on my review with my current overclock. I'm running a 1378FSB at 3.1Ghz on the money and with the cpu's under 100% load it hasn't went over 51C.

I may be wrong but I believe freestyler went with the tuniq tower. His temps are also nice with his overclocks. They retail for $49.99. Not sure what that would work out to in your denomonation though. Here's freestylers build.
