i remember my laptop doing this ever since i tried to get my sisters friends dogey memory card working. now when i install some programs i get this msg and the only way to install the prog is to put something into the e drive. is there any way to fix it?

hmm interesting. i think it happened not long after i installed vista on a v partition i created. but im still sure it was that memory card that did something.. hmm i might check the registry thing
