I am having a problem with a computer booting up. When I turn it on, it gets past the Windows bootup screen, and just before it gets to the blue screen where I can log in, the computer restarts; it's been doing this all the time now.
Note that this is Windows 2000. Any thoughts would be of great help.

You could open the case and check to make sure no cables, ram, video card etc have come loose, happens sometimes and this will cause restarts. Also possible the hdd has become corrupted somehow, It might be a good idea to download a tool called hirens boot cd. It allows u to boot off the cd, independently of windows, and use lots of tools like hdd checkers, ram checkers etc. This might lead u to the problem. Memtest is on it to see if the ram is ok, good lil tool. What make is your hdd? Hirens has a few HDD testing programs that test to see if the drive is functioning.
