We need a jokes section

Well what do you expect people to say? In depth responses to a joke? No, people say "lol" or "lmfao" or whatever, because it's funny, and we laugh. What do you want us to say? "Well gee Raffaz, that joke there, especially the part with the goat, yeah man, that was good, I really like how it's explained blah blah blah" come on...lets be serious. People will laugh and post as such.

Perhaps we could make the jokes section into a contest of sorts?

For example, the joke is pmed to an administrator or mod, the mod approves the joke and is not eligible(sic) to win the contest. The mod posts the joke and then there is a week or other time frame of guessing. 1 guess per person, and at the end of the time period, a winner is chosen. This will also give lots of laughs to read the responses to the jokes and will allow for some control over the content of jokes, and posting requirements. PC Magazine's abort, retry, fail section comes to mind. The prize could be something like reputation points or t-shirts? A free week of banner exchange(thing free advertising for CF), etc...? Just an idea.

I doubt we'd get banner exchange or t-shirts.

Perhaps for deveopers or designers then? CF could have a featured site section. This would drive hits to the person's personal website, and would provide exposure for CF if a link was placed on the website of the person who won the contest? (contest guidelines/rules section)?

I personally believe that the social lounge in suffice enough for joke threads, we really don't need another section just for them. The structure of the forum is computer based, meaning this is a computer forum...

Although the social lounge is a place to unwind and talk about everything else that don't fit into any other sections of the forum.

That would be way too much work and David and the mods would never go for it.

a single jokes thread has been working at that site since 2002 and has 259 pages.

and that includes replies to jokes, people saying how funny things are, it doesn't get confusing.

nothing but when there is 30 lol/lmao's after every joke you get hundreds of pages with like 2 jokes per page.
