Nero 7 equivalent for Vista?

I have Vista Business and my Nero 6 isn't vista compatable. I don't want to have to buy Nero 7 after just buying Nero 6 last year, so I was wondering...is there a free, good, video editing program equivalent to Nero 7? I want to be able to import my video from my camcorder, put together a movie with menus, and burn it onto a DVD.

yeah, i saw that list before...thanks, but it doesn't help much. I need to know which program is free, and will do what i stated above, and will also work with vista (working with vista is all that list tells me). I was hoping for someone with actual experience with what i am looking for to give me a suggestion.
