Copying hard drives

Right now, I've got two hard drives in this computer. One with Vista, and one with XP.

I'm doing my new build this week, so I'm taking the XP hard drive out of this computer and putting it in the new one.

The problem is, then I lose everything on this computer, since the Vista drive is just a clean install of Vista. I would just do a clean reformat, but my dad has lots of important work stuff on it. So is there any way I can make an exact copy of one hard drive to the other?

Both hard drives are 250 GB. One is SATA and one is IDE.

If worst comes to worst, I'll try to copy over all his work files to a DVD, and hope the VPN software works when move it.

Just use norton ghost, or you could use the backup utility to get your dads data off

Dont forget to test the image, before you go wiping the computer :)
Of course. I don't think I'll be taking out the current one until tomorrow anyway, I doubt the rest of my parts are coming today.
