Well. I just turned on my computer today and i logged on and realized that my computer looked like it just got formatted. But i then looked in C:\Documents and Settings\'User Name' and found all my files. All my firefox bookmarks and all my settings on most of my programs have returned to default. I am dragging the right files in the right folders right now but im wondering why this happened... It has never happened before and it seems really awkward.
Thanks in advance

Edit: OMG I JUST WENT ON SYSTEM RESTORE AND RESTORED IT TO YESTERDAYS DATE AND NOW EVERYTHING IS GONE! MY COMPUTER IS PRETTY MUCH FORMATTED... ALL MY SCHOOL ASSIGNMENTS, MOVIES I MADE, AND MY PROGRAMS ARE ALL GONE! I DONT KNOW WAT TO DO NOW... IM FREAKIN OUT...I looked in C:\Documents and Settings\ and i looked in all of the user profiles and i cant find anything. I tried to recover my songs but when i tried to play them all the songs had the wrong names and they were all messed up...

Yep, there are a few viruses that attack system restore, do a virus check. You need to stop looking at the porn sites lol :)

well actually... yesterday my mom pushed the power button on my computer so i guess that could have corrupted something...When I turned on the comp, all my settings were defaulted...My windows theme was back to default, my background was defaulted, my program settings were defaulted and my My documents folder had nothing in it...so i looked in C:\Documents and Settings\ and i found my documents and stuff....so then i decided to do a system restore to yesterdays date and when my comp restarted my settings were all back...but then i realized that my information in C:\Documents and Settings\ was ALL gone...Now i cannot find a way to recover the files...before i system restored i had 40 gb free and after i had 90gb free which meant a lot of my information got deleted. I am 100% sure that it was not a virus. well actually 90% lol. I dont know wat to do...

Use a recovery program like getdataback, its not free but its the best IMO, and ive used alot of them. The free ones just dont do the same job.

I am trying that right now... wat data loss scenario do i go on? i went on default now.. how do i use it and wat does it do? and is it worth the long wait cause it says 1 hour... How am i sposed to use it?

Edit: I got it to work... i can find some of my files but they are scattered in random places...But my documents arent there which contained all my videos, and pics...

People? Well...I cant take this anymore. I think i might as well format my computer because now it is lagging a lot for no reason and it is all messed up. :(

yesterday my mom pushed the power button on my computer so i guess that could have corrupted something and she held it in and never allowed the computer to shut down successfully. Im pretty sure its not a virus because ive been scanning my computer ever since i last formatted and i have never had a virus...Well actually mayb it is...Im going to run a scan now...Im scanning with windows live onecare...I know u ppl r going to say that i should b using AVG but i will try it after if onecare does not detect anything.
