I have to computers hooked up to a router and then to a cable modem. one downloads at 50 k per sec and other is 450 K per sec.

any ideas what the huge difference? One is a 2.0 Celeron and ones a 1.5 AMD (AMD is the 450k per sec)

Are they downloading at the same time? If so, one is probably using up most of the bandwidth, so the other is slower.

I had a similar problem when I was using wireless (although you weren't).

Laptop was stuck at 2Kb/s when the desktop PC managed 250Kb/s+. Reinstalled the wireless drivers on the laptop and it worked beautifully ever since.

Could be down to the NICs, are the latest drivers installed. Are the cables the same type, eg cat5, cat6 etc
