How to stop XP from reducing HDD performance when errors occur

When was the last time you formatted and reinstalled?

have you ran chkdsk /f ???

I formatted around xmas time i got this then, so it isnt old. Yes i have run checkdisk and it found some usual stuff (my pc kept crashing when i first installed it, had a bad gfx driver). I'll try and run it again. I have to use the hirens boot cd one, as when i reboot and it goes into checkdisk i dont get a pic on my monitor, never have with this gfx card, only when windows is properly loaded do i get an image.

That sounds very dodgy, could be something to do with the gfx card, although ive never had probs with leadtek

Nah it was a bad tweaksrus driver, gave others probs too, blue screening etc, changed it and instantly pc was fine. THe drivers for the 7950gx2 suck big time, the news ones dont like it at all.

ah sorry misunderstood u, the no picture issue i read is a thing with the 7950s and the sli issue, not sure why. It works in hirens dos etc ad normal dos but not when its half way thru loading the windows drivers, ie when it scans the drive.
