Windows XP/?? problem

When I right click and select "New" my system freezes and explorer crashes. I ran antivir and no detections, any ideas?

You say your right clicking and making a new, but what new are you making ? what i would do, for whatever the new your making...make sure that the extention for what ever your making is pointed to the correct one.
