Internet connection

I just installed xp, pluged in my Cat5 cable, now what? lol What I mean is how to I start up my internet connection? My motherbord has an onboard Lan chip and I don't know how to get it to register. Ive tried the setup wizards first, but they said they cant find the network device or something about the fact that It should be already working. Any ideas?

Install the drivers for the NIC, if they are built in to the mobo, they will be on the mobo CD, if not then search on the net or use the installation disc that came with the NIC
