How do i know what kind of ram to buy?

i got a dell e520 and it came with 1gb ram(2 dimms) and i want to upgrade to 2 gigs of ram with a 1024 1 dimm stick of ram and i want to know how i can tell wich ram will work or not on my computer.

Well the e520 uses DDR2-533 RAM, so get that speed. You may want to run another 2 sticks instead of another 1 so the memory runs in dual-channel.

You would easily go to crucial.com to get a system scan and find out which is best. Plus they have cheap prices and you can see what performance and for the cheapest.

yea good choice on the ram top get 2 sticks, it does make a large difference in performance if you game, or even multitask
