AMD Athlon 64 FX60 FX-60 2MB L2 DUAL CORE CPU OEM

is anyone using this CPU at the moment as i would like to know how good or bad they are.opinions greatfull
Thinking of buying one to go with my ABIT AV-8 mobo

This is my opinion, but I would get an E6300, since they are only $30 more, and overclock really well too. Mine's currently running at 2.9 Ghz, but I'm not gonna push it any more until I get better cooling.

Thats great an all but he will have to get a new Board and New Ram if he does that.

The overclocked opteron will put him on the same level with the Core2Duo as well.

Sure the Core2duo is better in the long run, future proof senario.

but the S939 build is budget friendly

Oh, didn't think of that, then that should be the way to go.

Well, off to 5th period for me.

no no. Opteron overclocked is NOT on the same level as a C2D.

hmmm no no hey...

Toms hardware and these other guys seem to think different.

Also just today someone threw up some benchmark results with all these processors and the FX-60 and the E6300 were very close.

I cant find it though...

Now i'm not saying who is better or what, i am showing the facts

the E6300 and FX-60 are close in performance

but you see, you're taking the highest end dual core and comparing it to the lowest end C2D, not exactly apples to apples here. Let's compare clock for clock shall we?
