Well you wont believe this.

Our school has something like 200 computers. All conntected to the 6 or so servers and they are connected to the towns internet connection the barnsley lea.

The computers have a program called ranger remote. where the techers can connect and controll and clock and lock and so on our pc's in the class room.

The techers has a nonpupil account nonpupil@barnsleynglf
The Pupils have a pupil account etc..

Most software is installed on the server but some are on the harddrive.

The barnsley lea has a list of sites to block which they have to such as porn etc... Out school has its own block list. Which is full of blocked sites.. eg google images and messenger sites and lots more..

When we turn the pc's on we get to a log on screen where we have to type in our username and pasword to logon to the network otherwise we cannot get to any of the pc.

We cannot install programs on the pc or open programs such as portable apps. The only way to install programs is to unplug the network cable install and it will open aslong as the install has a 'run me now' and only if it starts up on start up otherwise we cannot run it again as the start menu is from the server.

We can run programs from mem sticks ut they close so take out the network cable and they run.. plug it back in for internet etc.. they close.

We cannot get into internet options. The control panel any other parts of the pc. We cannot change the back ground.

We cannot right click on folers or desktop...

We cannot type in \ into the address bar it dissapears, and if anything like C:\ in the box dissapears or if you manage to get on it you get a message saying about restrictions.

Task Manager is disabled and we cannot get into run or cmd.

Thats it there is nothing we can do. They really have made it hell! :p.

What i want to know is how to get around anything on there? but the main one is blocked sites.Such as porxy sites are blocked and the word proxy into google closes the browser

Using iframes dosent work. Ip's dont work. Hex ips dont work

The only site that is unblocked like that is a couple pages are page translators and you cannot login to anything through these and not all images are displayed.

Very long post. I will be updating with other things i can think of they have done.

I always use google.ca at my school lol, works for images and such or use spanish google for images you can't read what it says but you can still see the pics :) my school has the same thing they block just about everything except the school's web page lol...

I can't really help you with this, but we have Google Images blocked, and I have absolutely no Idea why. If you want to get to Google you have to go to Google for wacky countries, I think Google Indonesia isn't blocked yet.

hmm. i think i have an idea for you my friend...

it will require you to use your computer at home, but trust me it works.

ok so here's how it goes down...when you get home, log onto your pc. go to google.com, click on the pictures tab.

BAM...you're there. amazing right? maybe your school blocks everything on the comps because of kids like you...you're at school to learn, not to look at tits and ass on their computers. do it at home... taxpayers are not paying for you to get off at school.

Exactly, like I said in the other thread about school computer restrictions.....

They put it there for a reason, the reason is.....they don't want you doing that stuff while you are in school and supposed to be learning. Just because there is a computer there doesn't mean you have the right to go look at anything you want. They are the schools computers.

that's true. My philsophy is do what you want with your computers but if you're using someone elses follow their rules because they own it not you. I use my home computer for games and msuic and email which is stuff I don't do at school. My school can be pretty harsh about restrictions and they've banned people from the school computers for not following the rules and going to inappropriate sites and such.

actually funny story: back about 2 or 3 years ago a kid in my tech. class printed about 50 pages or more of pr0n and such and got banned for life for it. It was pretty funny because he didn't really care because it was a daily thing for him, this time he just got caught, his punishment was the banning of course but he also had to show the administration how he bypassed the filter which he did and went surfing for more :D
