yeah thanks for the replys... its not the router, i can directly plug them modem into the onbaord lan and it still has the same problems. i guess im gonna have to buy a LAN card, will it use much power??? oh ummm when i downloaded the firm ware it didnt install, could you please link the newest download for a "D-link Air Plus G....DI-524" thanks

You have to install the router firmware through the router, not the OS

the following link will take get you to firmware downloads after you tell it which revision you have (it shows you how to tell). follow the instructions on site for updating your firmware. As much as i'd love u to tell you how to do it, its varried on every router i've used.

oh, and in response to your earlier question on what firmware is: its kinda like a driver, accept it is not affecting your comptuer, just how the internals of the hardware work with itself.

You need to log in to your router, through internet explorer. For dlink you type http://192.168.1.1 That should take you to the router page, then the username and password will be admin

Yeah i type admin, and leave the password blank then hit ok, then it just flashes then its blank again..
