I just put in a new IDE 80GB hard drive into my Dell computer to replace an old one. I popped in the Windows 2000 Pro disc, formatted the hard drive and installed Windows, but when I go to boot up, it says that no IDE drive is installed...thoughts?

Sounds like ya may have connected it to the secondary channel. Also make sure that the drive can be seen in the BIOS and double check that the cables are secure

go into the bios and see if the drive is detected in the bios.
start the pc and usually press delete key or f1 key until bios screen shows.

lol ya dells are pretty bad...i just switched the jumper setting to cable select and it seems to be working now...thanks though
