I'd say 2GB is fine, 3 might be pushing it so I wouldn't try anything more than that. I have 1.5GB and that seems to be more than plenty.

Tons of stuff that demanding, but it's rare that a home user would ever run it.

Over 2 gigs and your computer will actually slow down as it will have to go thru more ram in order to find what it needs

well yea, but nothing a home owner will run is that demanding, which is what you just said, just for shits anybody know how much a server uses? i have no remote idea...

well that would depends a lot on the use of the server
I think the server mobos usually have room for like at least 8gb. (and I'd guess the best ones support like 32gb)
But those are more or less just guesses.
