My friend's computer is experiencing some problems. He just got built a new computer, with everything working fine. He installed XP, and downloaded some of the service packs. After downloading the second service pack, his monitor would occasionally give him some problems. He would be working on it normally, and then all of a sudden the monitor screen would turn completely gray, and he would be unable to get the screen back, forcing him to have to reboot the computer.

This is by no means a top of the line computer....actually its not even close. The specs are 650 MHz, Intel Celeron processor, with an integrated video card.
Any thoughts on the problem?

It could be many things , but this is what I would try out;

1- the cable thats connecting your monitor to your videocard maybe be loose. And by moving it it changes the colors of the screen.
2- Since your computer is so old, the videochip can be now on its last legs. or pretty much anything in that computer so I really dont have a solid solution loll.

download and install the latest driver for his intergrated video.

would be one of the first steps i would take
