I need to upgrade a Windows 98 box to a Windows XP box. The problem is when I put in the cd and go to setup, there is no upgrade option, only a clean install option. Are there special copies that allow upgrading? Will I have to buy another copy with that option??

Thanks!

I don't think you can upgrade from 98 to XP, you'll need to do a clean install.

No, you can upgrade from Win98 to XP. It's 95 and lower that aren't.

Yeah I knew that you could upgrade from 98 to XP, I just could not get that option when I went to install XP. Just wondering if anyone knows if you have to have the upgrade edition or if all copies of XP Pro should work.

Thanks!

Your right... I upgraded from 98 to XP on my older computer.

@Mortiscon: I just had the regular version, and it was pro too and it worked fine. Can you upgrade to something like 2000 and then go to XP... or try someone else's disc?

Edit 2: Another timeout, this is getting ridiculous. 4th timeout today, right after I posted saying I didn't get them anymore lol.
