cpu cooling

i have been wanting to overclock my CPU for a while since most of the games that i run right now are a little choppy.

i was looking at this one http://www.xoxide.com/thermalright-xp-90c-cpu-cooler.html

but it can only run on AMD 754 3200+ and above, i have a 3000+ will it still work and if not why

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 PRO is the best cooler i've had for a CPU, and cools the CPU down alot better than the stock one. It uses heatpipes to send alot more heat out than just a standard heatsink would.
Plus, its cheap!

That should work on a 754 socket system

thank you that is all i needed! also i am looking to upgrade my case fans what is a good fan brand name? i don't care about noise.
i need 2 120mm and are most side window fans 80mm if so i need one of those too.

Well, look up Sharkoon. They make very quiet, yet efficent fans that may get you started

Let me find the CustomPC magazine on case fans, and I'll check what came out at best for you.

Right, the best 80mm fan came out at the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000.
It runs at 2000 RPM, yet keeps noise down to 21.5DB and moves 26cfm of air. Alot for a efficent 80rpm fan.

The best 120mm fan was the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000. Quiet, and yet, capable of moving 38cfm at 19db (Lower than most noise ambient levels)

They have brought out a 2000RPM model of the 120mm series though which moves even more air. They say 76cfm at 36DB (Not exactly loud)

Silent Eagles have the best noise vs performance, so may be worth looking into.

If you really aren't bothered about noise... then why not get Vantec Tornado's? Haha.... The TD9238H 80MM modwel for example can move 121cfm, yet at 54db, would be overheard...and not just slightly either.

yate loons for 120mm fans. No competition there. Kage, are you sure those silent eagles specs are correct? Did you verify them yourself? Those specs seem to be incorrect to me. Yates comes to the closest to their specs, and they are verified by a lot of the communities. The Thermalright XP-90c is very good. But you need a high powered fan, like a Delta or Panaflo.

I haven't checked myself, but CustomPC ran their own checks on them using scientific methods, that prooved pretty close, and sometimes better than the manufacturers claims.

It may seem wrong, but they are honestly really that quiet.

that arctic cooling is nice, but my preferance is the zalman CNP9500. keeps the system amazingly cool, and i have yet to see a mobo that it won't fit in.

How is it not the right thing to do? The Tuniq Tower 120 is the best air cooler out there. The next step up would be water cooling.
