Web cam advice

Want to purchase a web cam to keep in touch with the family in Cornwall.

1. Any advice on which ones are good, bad or in between?

2. I notice that some web cams have a microphone built in. Can I then use the computer speakers, or do I have to still have a set of earphones?

The computer speakers will work fine for receiving sound. The ones with the microphone built in is a plus because then you won't need a separate microphone plugged into your computer. Well it all depends on how much you are willing to spend. I bought a used webcam for $2 and it gets the job done, it has a built in microphone but the video quality is not very desirable.

This one looks decent
