and have you downloaded the bootable image? can ya try the disc on another computer to confirm this?

I burnt it onto a disc using Alcohol 120%.

That's odd, I've put it into my laptop CD drive and the disc appears to be empty.

If I try to re-burn it it says the disc is not blank.

If ya have nero, burn the iso with that. If ya select recorder > burn image, and then select the .ISO file, it should work. You can get a trial from nero, if ya havent got it

Just cancel that and once in nero, do what i said above and it will set everything for you

The good news is, the disk now works.

The bad news is, the program freezes when it is scanning for drives.

The HDD shows up in the BIOS though.

Can you take the HDD out and try it in another computer as a slave drive

I'm afraid not. The only other thing we have is this laptop.

Have ya got a spare cable you can try on the drive, just to rule that out aswell
