what am I after?

you definately do NOT need dx10 for css... as a matter of fact Css will run on a DX7 card... you dont need must to play cs:s... if thats all you looking to pay you could build a comp for 300USD that will run it flawlessly... i had a radeon 9200 series card... which is old as dirt... and it ran it fine

For that stuff its $331

Plus youll need a Case, a hard drive, and optical drive(s) (And monitor keyboard and mouse if you dont have those).. any of which would be good just find ones you like... and that will play CS:S just fine

EDIT Part Deux: Me and Borat had the same idea... if you got the money go for his... mine is just a cheap way to play CSS

thanks for this guys!

are they hard to assemble?

I heard you need directx for the next version of cs in 2007..

if someoen could list all the parts needed for the computer and parts that would work nicely for the system I'm after I'd be really happy..

thanks for all your suggestions too!

Taylors build looks very nice. Though if you are on a budged don't get an expensive case. I have a $30 case (also came with a 420W psu) and there is nothing really wrong it with. The voltages are pretty weird (jumping all over the place) because of the cheap psu, so investing in a psu is a good thing. As for the case, does everything I need it to do. If you are on a budged I don't see the reason for spending $100 on a case.
