ok, Im stumped.
you can pop in your mobo cd and see what that has to offer, and if you do have a cross over cable, I encourage you to hook that betweed your moms and your computer. I really thing its you nic.... but I have no Idea..

a nic is a network card or a Network Interface Card
its what you plug your ethy cable into.

you can look up on buying another one and putting it in a pci slot on your computer. Thats if you play xbox live or something, it makes it where you can play compter and xbl at the same time I have 2 NICs

Have you installed all the drivers off ya motherboard CD? Ya NIC driver should be on there. Not sure about ya mobo, but ya might have an option in the BIOS to enable the network card, so check that its not disabled
