go with windows 2000. It's less bloated than XP and it's just as stable if not more stable. It won't be able to use MS Windows Defender but I don't think your friend would've used it anyways, it doesn't support windows 2000 I believe but I could be wrong. Also, since win2K is less bloated the PC might run a little bit faster than if XP was on it.

Pci-E, I was actually thinking the 7300gt. I think its around $50.

Looks good, should run well for him. I dont like the prebuilt one, I never liked celeron. I think I'll go with the AMD one that u put togethor. If anyone else has ideas please post.
