Build for less than $350

Hey, I'm helping my good buddy build a new machine. Its got to be less than $350, and its used for many different things. No integrated graphics he needs a PCI-E card that can play most games on at least low settings.

well intel core 2 duo beats like everything so I would go that way.

yeah but thats $180, and the budget is $350. No monitor keyboard or mouse needed though. Do need windows.

you would probably want an amd 64, and 1gb of ram.
LambOfGod posted one awesome build for $3xx. You might want to go through his posts to see if you can find it, though I think it was a while ago.. or then just wait untill he gets online.

go with an athlon 64, you might even be able to get a pentium D for a decent price but I'm not too sure. The dual core is an added bonus but an athlon 64 would be good also.

I was looking at an athlon 64 3000+. I dont know anything about AMD, so what is Ht=2000mhz? Is that like a front side bus?

get the 3200+ and 2000mhz=2 ghz=speed of processor.

Ok, thanks. what other parts would you guys suggest for the rest of the machine? Can be windows 2000 instead of XP.
