Is it safe to place a computer on a carpet?

Like does carpet dust or something somehow get into the computer and damage it? It's going to be under a computer desk, but directly on home carpeting.

If it's bad, what do you recommend we put underneath it? Any cheap plastic or something you can recommend?>

I keep my case on the carpet, not really a problem for me. Then again, I don't have a very dusty home.

It will be fine. Just keep an eye on dust, blow it out with a compressed air can every once in a while.

I'd see no problem with it. I can't do it since I live in a desert and it's dusty all times of the year. Also the air is really dry this time of year and there's a lot of static electricity so i don't think that would be good for my PC. I just keep mine under my desk but there's a little platform built on the desk so I can just put my PC on that.
