Well, i'm sure you've all seen it. the nice new motherboards with built in 8 channel sound. But i have a few questions about it.

How good is the sound quality? would it be better than my Audigy Se?

is it 24-bit sound, or 16?

and does it have EAX, for 3d sound in gamming? if so, what version (1,2,3 etc.)

any info you have would be great, and i'm welcoming any other comments about these onboard sound sytems

Well, it depends. Most of them have 24-bit, and EAX, it depends on the onboard chip for the card.

If you want all that really awesome sound for gaming, you would probably be better off buying a sound card. Something like an X-Fi that will give you the kind of sound you are looking for.

IMO onboard sound sucks.

it would be an nvidia nForce 680i chipset is on the board i'm looking at. I havn't seen anything about it online. I know a normal pci sound card is better, but after the bulk of upgrades, i won't have money for one. but if this has EAX then i can save the time and money.
