i was wondering what those battery shaped objects are that stick straight up from the motherboard. You find them scattered all over the motherboard.

Their capacitors and they temporarily store energy.

my old computer had these and it looked as though they were leaking. there was dry acid on top and the tops were raised. is my motherboard shot or is there a way of replacing or fixing these.

ahaha from what i just saw on tv, no it is not possible to replace them as they are soldered to the motherboard all at once with the other components.

You can buy these, but its a tricky job to do as they need soldering to the mobo, they are quite tricky to find a place that sells them in the first place aswell

hey if you are in the UK a place like maplins would sell them probably
