Getting more spam lately

Yes, I'm getting a lot more spam recently, this morning for example, I received seventeen, I know I may have a trojan lurking somewhere, Adaware stated that one of the three I got in April, couldn't be healed, so these 90 or so are accounted for by that, I expect.
Which others through your own experiences would be better to have than Adaware, & those you suggest, should I uninstall from programmes first, or after I install the new one, I've always admitted I'm not very technically minded!

While I'm on the subject, the new 7.5 IE is coming on line in January as you will know, do I have to uninstall the old one first?, I have asked twice, but have had no replies, would someone give a definitive reply now please, even just a plain yes or no would do!, & no, I don't want to change from IE, :)

Thanks.

Well currently my PC is set up to run an Ad-Aware scan as well as a Spybot scan every night, and paired, they do a brilliant job, as well as a routine Avast! scan every so often....that keeps my pc clean as a whistle....

Matt

Yes, I have Spybot and Adaware, it's fine to use them both, sometimes one will pick up on something the other one has missed.

No, you don't need to uninstall IE when you upgrade it. The installation process will remove the old version.

Id try these 2 ( Ad-aware and Spybot ) also Id try AVG, great little program and is useful is the virus/ trojan's cant be healed by either of the other 2 program's.

Oh and about upgrading IE, The installation process should remove the old version and upgrade you to 7.5.

Good luck!

Have you got any email filtering on your pc Maurice? Not sure who your ISP is but alot of them include filtering. Might be worth looking into that. There is also 3rd party software for this. Also a few more spyware programs that i use are webroot spysweeper and pc tools spyware doctor, although you have to pay for these, they are both excellent. Oh and stop looking at them porn sites lol :)

Thank you, at last :D, I get a reminder & an opportunity to d/load 7.5 once a week now, I shall probably do it next week, I hate upgrades, eighteen months ago, I had to change my ISP, it wasn't a con, they were amalgamating & I diidn't have the dial-up system I had now, it was a long procedure, & I'd get so far, & it would cut me off, I have Wanadoo Any Time now & never have that problem, anyway, it was late at night, & I was getting very tired, so I got in touch with their help desk, & they phoned me, I was on narrow band then, & was offline at the time, having just been cut off, so I picked up the phone, & a woman asked me what the problem was, she sounded Indian, & with her accent, I had to listen to her carefully, I told her the problem, & she patiently talked me through it, & it was done, I thanked her a lot, hence my phobia, which you have now cured!

Okay like stated many times before and ims orry for repeating but excellent programs are
AVG Anti virus
Spybot search and Destroy
Lavasoft Ad-aware
Webroot spy sweeper
Webroot Desktop Firewall
Windows Firewall

i have all those running and never never do I get viruses or spyware or trojans or hackers

Thanks Mick, I have Wanadoo, used to be Free Serve, & their filtering is excellent, I'll look into the software you suggest, as for porn sites, ha-ha, I never go there, not because I'm a prude, I'm not, it's just not worth the hassle it can get you, once I googled for adult sites, meaning sites for older people to converse together, I got three pages of porn sites from all round the world, the things they offered, woweee!, but I gulped, steeled myself, & closed down, pheeeooo, a close thing!

I never heard of Ad-aware getting rid of trojans...

Like mentioned before i would use AVG

AVG antivirus
http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10596553.html?tag=pop.software

another Program not mentioned that i have used and works well is Windows Defender.

Windows Defender
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ypuuCWkyIFZwdO0FivUaWMd1qwAgXMVM7oAPdOIPuUQ==

It is FREE, has Real time Protection (if you want it), and the updated definitions roll out with your standard windows updates.

So it more user friendly.

I usually install it on end users home systems, because of this.
