Monitor Help Please!!

Not computer savy at all, so please bare with me. I'll try to simplify the problem as much as possible.

For the last 3months my cpu would freeze up and look all crazy causing me to restart it, so I'm assuming it's a possible video card issue.

As of 2 weeks ago as I start my cpu the monitor will be blank with "out of range" on the screen. A freind of mine told me to reseed the video card, I attempted that but no such luck.

I can at least get the cpu to safe mode w/ networking which I am doing now and still get on the internet. However the screen resolution is still slightly out of whack, and I have no sound and the printer does not work assuming since it's in safemode.

Any help would greatly be appricated. Would installing a new video card fix this problem.

1. Its not called a cpu. a cpu is the central processing unit (the processor)
2. Try reinstalling the drivers for the video card or replacing it.

did you try a different monitor?

No I don't have another monitor. For the drivers should I uninstall the video card and it's drivers, and put the CD in to reinstall the drivers?
