man, i can't wait for the blueray movies to come out.does this mean that the movie itself will sound even better that the dvd movies that are out now ? i sure hope they take advantage of the sound quality as well. as for the price of the blueray players and recorders, putting 200 gigs of flies onto one disc is going to be freakin awsome.

i will just be waiting for the price of the blueray recorders to come down on price so the public can afford them. i will be one of those people buying one, because i do alot of backing up...especially music. short term music is backed up on another hhd, but long term goes right to dvd.
yeah plus the writers are only llike 2X write speed so thats a bit slow to back up like 200GB plus the prices are high so i am gonna wait for faster speeds and cheaper drives

how true how true, i really want one of those cause i'm always recording movies off the satalite, but i just want one to see how many movies i can put onto one dvd. right now i can squeeze 4-movies onto one using dual layer dvd format in very good quality resolution. i get as if not better than SP recording than vcr's get.

yep, saw this on the inquirer. i haven't even filled up half of my 250gb hdd. 1tb?.. i guess.. brag rights? lol

The capacity to price ratio isn't that good. Sure, 50GB is a lot, but the price you pay is just unreasonable. Blu-Ray is good for backups and commerical use, since the capacity actually has some use. High-Definition movies don't need 50GB, unless they decide to encode it in MPEG-2 or something. If you ask me, HD-DVD is more suitable for media like movies and game discs. It's cheaper and the space is still enough for games (even Resistance: Fall of Man which is about 16GB) and HD movies.

yeah, the price will be a major factor played in how and who will buy these blueray's. i believe the discs alone will be expensive too, so i will wait til i'm warrented to move up to the blueray recorder.

I've NEVER seen them and i can't find any record of 1TB drives existing.

Anyways if you have 750 gig of porn thats kinda sad.

Hitachi will have a 1TB desktop hard drive out by 2007 I think.

I doubt any single person would have that much porn on their hard drive, but I'm sure a lot of porn sites (the legal ones that aren't infested with spyware) have TB's full of movies in their servers.
