modem driver

i have a spare modem what i am fitting into mates pc but i cant find the driver what is the best free software which i can run to tell me what driver i need.i have done the usual by googleing the serial number and all that but come up with nothing.

Have tried Googling the chipset? This usually produces better results than the S/N.

The only other option that I can think of is Driverguide.com. If you're not already a member, give an email that you don't mind getting spam to- used to be a very good site, but has now become not as good. Also, I used to use a program, I think it was PCIlist- it only worked with Windows 9x based OS, and would give you codes for the manufacture, model, etc. Sometimes it helped out a lot- not sure if this is it, but I found something simular at MajorGeeks.com:

Sisoft sandra will probably tell ya, or theres a program called driver genius i think
