Problem uninstalling program in XP (rundll32.exe)

Ok i have a problem uninstalling a program on my computer. When i go to uninstall, the control panel just freezes up and the CPU usage goes to 100% where rundll32.exe is running at 100%. I have no idea whats wrong with it and is there another way to uninstall this program?

Have you tried uninstalling it in safe mode? Also run a virus scan etc

i have not yet. Let me try to uninstall in safe mode. So it might be a virus that is keeping me from uninstalling?

If it's a virus when you get rid of the software, then boot you're pc back up, it will just execute itself again, so its a visious circle realy.. always best to use safe mode

Ok uninstalling the program worked in safe mode. Thanks guys. I ran avast AV and it did catch a few worms/trojans, but i thought i had deleted them. Maybe i might try running avast in safe mode too.

Yeah mate its always better to run AV etc in safe mode
