Stick the harddrive in another pc and set it as a slave drive and copy them that way. Do you know if the drive even works. Are the files even important, i mean its taken a year to get round to it

Is there any other way to copy the information from hard drive to disk

just like you would between folders on you computer right click the other hard drive and select copy and then go into where you wnt to put this backup and right click and press paste ,
NOTE this will backup all of the data on the old hard drive, to only backup certain things find them on the disk and just copy/paste them
then copy them to disk from the "new Computer"

Ya need a working pc to do it, ya could take it to a shop and get them to do it
