corrupt files

Sad day... apparently some of my important files are corrupt on the hard drive. Checkdisk doesn't seem to be doing anything. I'm getting errors and programs crashing left and right. Spyware was scanned and virus scan is in process. I haven't gotten one of those pop-up messages yet so maybe checkdisk fixed it this time. Any idea what caused this problem and any other solutions besides formatting? I don't want to resort to that at this moment. Any ideas?

My stuff seems to be running now. First time I got a stop 0xA but this time it didn't do anything at the end, I assume it fixed stuff. Thank ya. +rep
