I have a hard drive that when I hook it up and start my computer it gives off a sort of whirling sound then a click then the whirling starts again and another click and so on and so forth, when i have this hard connected as a primary drive my computer wont recognize it and when I have it hooked up as a secondary drive my computer fails too recognize the drive plus the working hard drive that is present with in my computer.

Is there any hope of saving that data on this hard drive?

Please help, thanks in advance

clicking?.. that usually means your hard drive is failing..i wouldn't know a way to save the info if you can't access the hdd, sorry.

Are the jumper settings correct, have ya tried a different cable, is it detected in BIOS? Find out the drive manufacturer and goto their website and download their diagnostic tools (get the DOS based one) boot from the CD and test it that way, If ya cant get it to show, then try it on another pc, and if it still doesnt work after trying everything above then its probably dead
