xp clean install

Changing the resulution to something higher will make your icons smaller. Thats totally normal. Just try a resolution like 1024 x 768 if ya want bigger icons. Have you got true colour options available in ya settings

I adjusted it the best I could. I have it 1024 by 768 with dpi setting large 120% and appearance font size normal. It still looks bad compared to the way is was. Some of the icons are shark toothed. I anticipated every problem possible for a clean install. Not in my wildest dreams did I think I would have a problem with the monitor. It's always the way though I guess. thanks

I put it back to 96 but the type is too small. If I then lower the resolution to read the 96 dpi setting the screen looks bad. I don't know how to post a screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about because this isn't normal. Right now with my resolution is on 1024/768 and everything looks ok except the images are narrow especially the scroll bars. When i move the resolution up and down the images don't increase and decrease in size uniformly. First they get wide then narrow for each step up with the resolution. It does the same thing when it's brought back down. I know this is beating a dead horse but I want to try and figure it out. thanks

To do a screenshot, just press the "print screen" key on the keyboard. That puts it in memory. Then go into Paint and paste it in there. Save it as a JPEG file because by default, it will be a BMP file (too big). Then upload it to www.imageshack.com or some other file sharing sites and link it here so we can see.

I have some screenshot on putfile. They are all 1280x1024 which is the native resolution for my dell 172fpb monitor. The first one is 96 dpi and has real small type, second is 150 which is better but only helps some stuff. Other things remain small. You can't really see it in the shots but images aren't right as far as size in concerned like aspect ration is messed up and task bar icons are pixelated. The third is a comcast home page shot with the 150 dpi and is flush left. The type is tiny. Alot of web pages aren't displaying right. A friend of mine has the same exact comp with settings at 1280x1024 96dpi and his display looks like mine used to. I'm starting to think an error occurred during the clean install but the machine didn't pick it up. Plus when I uninstall nvdia drivers and restart nothing changes. I thought that is strange too. The comp indicates nvdia drivers are working properly. thanks

That looks fine to me lol, whats the problem exactly?? Contact me on IM and il talk ya thru ya probs

I'm starting to get somewhere now. I reset the dpi again but this time used the xp reinstall disc and all images seem proportionate now and icons are no longer pixelated. Everything is still small though. The first pic was 96 dpi with fonts from hard drive and the second I used the xp cd. Big difference. Something I forgot to mention was during the first reboot after clean install the display graphics were big, then small, then big again. Is there a way to reinstall the xp graphics from disc without doing another clean install?? I think this is where the problem is. Web page content including google is still miniscule and IE text size doesn't affect it. As far as I know the browser is messed up too.

It's hard to make out in the pictures, but everything looks like the way it should be. DOn't see anything wrong with what you have. If you do want to uninstall the video software, you can do it in the control panel. Go to the Add/Remove program and uninstall the Nvidia display drivers. Your dekstop will go back to looking ugly again with low frame rates. You can also go into the Device Manager and uninstall the display adapter in there.
