Hey guys. i just went and got myself some new RAM (1gb DDR). Now i only had 2 ram slots in the machine so i removed the 256mb ddr out and left the 512mb ddr in hoping to have 1.5gb of rammy. The problem im having is when i put the new 1gb DDR ram in the machine blue screens and says *****Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal***. When the 1gb ram is out its all cool. any tips why im having the problem. Oh and there both 400FSB and i have tried the 1gb stick by itself and still the error pops up, at boot up the machine does see the 1gb in there.

Your motherboard doesn't have enough "IRQ" to hold that new stick of RAM. You can fix this by:

1) Flip the two sticks around to re-arrange the IRQ
2) Update your BIOS.
3) Update your motherboard driver.

Hope that helps!

What the hell you on about, RAM doesnt even have an IRQ assigned to it lol

Going by what you have said i would say that either ya have bought a dodgy RAM stick, or its not compatible with ya mobo. Ya could try running a RAM tester to see if that helps. Post ya mobo details and the RAM details aswell
