I still fail to see why custom AVs are such a problem... I mean, if someone is stupid enough to use an offensive picture for an AV, they are probably the kind of person who wouldn't last more than 2 days here anyway.

Seriously. You can easily moderate it anyways. If someone has a offensive avatar, warn them and if they don't take it off within a day or so, take it off for them. Or if it's really, really offensive like porn, just permaban them.

hell, if anything that would get rid of a troublemaker right off the bat. I can only imagine a troll using such a picture in this place, and in which case they would do it only to offend.. if they couldn't do it in their AV, they would just post pictures.. I think some dude named king or something did that here once.

yeah i remember that, it was kingkill or something similar. Your point makes a lot of sense because that is a good example that proves we already come under the same attacks that could happen if they allow custom avatars. It's no different and it's easy to moderate (well, as long as there is a mod around unlike that other event).

i have to agree 100 that by turning off the neg rep option will result in settling alot of probs with members just being anal. the forum really does'nt need it, by if a member is being a pain/whatever.. then the report a post/member will be just as sufficient.

if david insists on keeping the option, then all neg reps will be reviewed by a mod and then we will decide if it reaches the member it was intended to, therefore eliminating the prob.

as i have discussed this issue before, i have also stated that if mod does a reveiw of neg reps. it will be at our discretion and not so much as a priority, since it will be putting more on the mods job.

This would work fine, but what if its a mod who is getting negative rep off someone, the system could get abused then, if its a mod who has got to review their neg rep.

I agree, I don't think that mods should be able to view members rep points, they are private, & should only be seen by that person, at present, only David can see others points, & it should remain that way.

A more accurate statement would be "remember how hard SOME of us fought to get the rep system put in place". I, for one, never thought the rep system was a good idea, and I could see that there was going to be abuse and misuse of it.
