Is it possible to somehow hook up my DVR to my computer and transfer the videos over to my computer hard drive?
The DVR only can record up to 40 hours or something like that, so it would be nice to have the luxury to archive important things to my PC hard drive, and have the DVR only store temporary things.
I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000 DVR from Adelphia/now Time Warner cable. I don't really want to mod the DVR as since it is rented from the cable company that wouldn't really go over too well.
My video card has 2 DVI slots and a S-Video slot. In the back of the DVR there are 2 fire wire/1394 ports, an S-Video port, the composite inputs and outputs (the ones that are red, yellow, and white), and the regular cable line in.
