K, my dad just got a Personal Media drive (An External Hard Drive by HP), and his desktop memory is only 250GB. The External Hard Drive will be his backup, but it is 500GB. How do I partition it so I can save the extra memory?

hm, I would think the same way you partition any hard drive?

Plug it in Before you turn on your computer.

F8 it and your external hard drive should be listed...

Partition from there...

I would think that all...?

If ya running XP, then goto control panel > performance and maintenance > admin tools > computer management then select disk management on left. Ya external drive will come up(make sure ya dont select ya internal drive) right click and there are options to partition in there. HTH :)

Or if the drive came with a cd, you can run that. They usually come with formatting software, or at least my hard drives did.
