I thought i had a virus and my comp kept shutting down, then started getting "stop error 0x0000007B, .
I put hd in another comp and formatted then reistalled windows, works good then put back in my comp and same stop error, wont start in safe mode or anything. I tried different ribbon cable to hd, different power cable, same thing. Hard drive is detected on start up but then right to stop error screen. My mobo is only a couple years old, could that be it?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have a P4, 2.8 ghz, 1 gig ram, xp home edition.

how long has this been happening? have u changed anything in the bios to make the disk change? have u got another hd u can try in the pc that doesnt work to see if its the motherboard thats defective? all i can suggest is checking the bios and making sure its all set right for the hdd, checking the motherbaord and making sure a pin isnt bent on the mobo hdd connector and that there isnt a crack etc on the circuit near the connector. but id def try another hdd and see if thats ok.
