Well, this is finally getting on my nerves.

Here's the stats:

AMD FX-60 Dualcore 2.6ghz
Nvidia Geforce 7900gtx
A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard
DVD-ROM drive
ASUS 500w PSU
2GB RAM DDR
Dualboot XP and Vista RC1

After in XP for about 45-60 minutes, my computer freezes.
After in Vista (running aero, of course) for about 5 minutes, it freezes.

I can't even play games on this monster of a machine.
Any ideas as to whats wrong?

4 fans, 2 in back, one on top, and one in the front.

Temps are fine.

It might be a PSU problem though, as sometimes I wonder if 500w is enough to power my proc and gfx along with mobo, hdd, cd, and etc.

Yeah, I would consider upgrading that..could be a hardware confliction, but if it can last 45 mins..I dont know..

45 minutes in XP.

But in Vista, where Aero takes a lot out of a GFX card, I guess it requires more power.

Check the amps on the 12 volt rail. If below 16 to 18 then yes by all means upgrade. Get as much amps as possible on the 12 volt rail as most hardware today is powered off the 12 volt rail. Some power supply makers still load up the 5 volt rail and neglect the 12. Shop carefully.

Amps?

Err, could I use Everest to check that?
Or whaT?

edit: Pshh, nevermind, Everest is destroyed.

Okay, I had problems like this before. It usually comes from power and looking at your 500W, it's not enough. Buy a 650-700W.

A 600W PSU with decent amps should do you.

Take a look on the power supply casing itself - that should tell you the amps.

before u consider buying a new psu, check the bios and more importantly ram timings, anything slightly too agressive for ur ram will make it freeze like its doing.
