Guide by X1337 for Downgrading your PSP to 1.50 from 2.71 from 2.50 or 2.60

If you dont understand the PSP firmwires and there used for, this will give you a general idea of what is possable:

2.81
2.80
2.71 (Hackable for downgrading)
2.70 (Eloader usable though Program)
2.60 (Eloader usable though Program or GTA disk)
2.50 (Eloader usable though Program or GTA disk)
2.00 (Eloader usable though Program)
1.52 (Downgradable to 1.50)
1.51 (Downgradable to 1.50)
1.50 (Run any homebrew games or program hacks)
1.00 (Sorce for making homebrew hacks, Only use this Firmwire if your plainning to make hacks for PSP's)

Files need for this downgrade:

Downgraded Progam

PSP 2.71 Firmwire

One PSP w/ 32MB or higher

Before doing downgrading, Open your disk tray and make sure you dont have the ICI number in the back. IF you do, than downgrading your PSP is A NO GO

Step #0 (Updating to 2.71)
1a) Connect your PSP to the computer
1b) Make sure your PSP is 50% charged and pluged in with cord

Go to (x)\PSP\Game
Make A "New" folder called UPDATE, copy the Eboot to update folder

Now go to your PSP, find "Game" than "Memory Stick". A Icon will show up, Press X and wait for it to load.

Next A Screen will Pop-up with Copyright Info etc, Go though all that crap Than press X. It will flash than restart to Firmwire 2.71

Step #1 (Installing Program to PSP)
1a) Connect you PSP to the power adaptor.
1b) Format your memory stick using PSP.
1c) Connect to the PC using USB cable

- Run "downgrader 2.7 Full" you downloaded from the Top!
- It will ask you if your PSP is compatible or not. Proceed to the next screen and identify drive letter of yoru PSP
- Now the program will start to install MS for the 1.5 dump files on your PSP

Step #2 (Downgrading PSP)
1a) Make sure you updated your PSP to 2.71
1b) Make you have USB connected to your computer
1c) Make sure you have your PSP volume turned up to 100%
1d) Make sure your PSP in pluged in with AC cord

Go to "Photos" - Press X than wait for A Red Screen to apper, If it isnt a full red screen than restart the PSP

IMPORTANT: It may not run on the first try due to an instability of the TIFF exploit. For my case it took 5 tries until it Finally worked. Just remember don't worry if you go to Photo and screen FREEZES. This means you need to restart. Don't worry… you restart manually by holding the ON switch for 10 seconds

It should flash for about 2 Minutes and then your free psp music will go BLACK. Again give it another minute (60 seconds) before turning it on. Now switch ON and see the BLUE ERROR screen, It will say Press O to recover from bad flash

Step #3 (going though Final Stuff)
Now you have a "new 1.5 PSP". There will be stuff missing from your Old 2.00+ Firmwires:

- Custom Desktop Pictures
- Brower Support (DevHook for runing emulater on diffrent Firmwire)

If you where using Eloader for your 2.00+ PSP's. Useing Emulators on that was slow on 2.00+ PSP's now with 1.5 its really smooth and fast:clap:

Whats the success (not bricked) rate of this method?

Good range of tutorials by the way, they should all be stickied.

Well its 50% 50%. You can only brick it if you mess it up. Say you hold the power buttion but the red screen shows up. That will brick, if your PSP is with the TA board it will brick :(

So far there is no downgrader for 2.81. Not even 2.80 but you can install Windows Vista using your webbrowser to run it.

There is a dedicated downgrader for these mobo's that is, to my knowledge, out there but im not sure - it may still be in development.
