did you make sure to download the drivers for your motherboard? windows 2000 does not come with them. For me, when I first install 2000, it is VERY slow... until I install drivers, it's up to speed then.

Maybe it could be that. I tried the Pentium 4 driver package, but it only works for the Intel 800 chipset series.
