Well, I'm building a new rig soon and I'm wondering if I should choose a
7600GT
or
7600GS
I'm actally considering if two 7600GS's
Just wondering what your opinions are....

Yeah, I saw that the GS is 40% slower than the GT.
Getting the GT may be the best option

Definitely a 7600GT over a GS, much better performance. If you're going for 2 7600GS's though, I'd rather get a single 7900GT, except the ASUS version is a bit more expensive than 2 7600GS's. If you can accept a different manufacturer than ASUS, XFX or EVGA for example, you could get a 7900GT for the same price as 2 ASUS 7600GS's.

Although, if you're willing to sacrifice the possibility of SLI for a while, an X1900XT would give you performance way beyond these cards for quite a decent price, $240. Listed above is a 256MB version, but the extra 256 found in most of the X1900XT's won't improve performance much more.

Those are what I would recommend. If $240 is out of your reach, you could just get a 7600GT. But trust me, 1 X1900XT would be way better than 2 7600GS's. But you can't do SLI with ATI cards on a SLI-ready board, so it's your decision. Between your two, definitely the 7600GT.

Wow... nice post
I think the 7600GT suites me well a 7900GT is a bit too powerful for me
The X1900XT is out of my range because.. it costs over 600 dollars here.

Ah, where do you live? That's really expensive, even for AUD. Oh well, it doesn't really matter that much. The 7600GT should do fine if you don't need a massive load of power in your GPU. No need to pay extra $$$ if you don't need it. I just would never recommend a 7600GS. Not even in SLI, because you can get 1 card that outperforms the two of those together for that price.

I'd be happy to look for some in your area for cheaper, but like I said, if you don't need the extra graphics processing power, save some $$$ and go with the cheaper card.

Hope this helped a little.

X1950pro when it comes out. It shouldnt be too much more expensive than roughly 250 USD. GDDR4, 80nm, 'SLI'able. Killer card. Single slot cooling too.

I'm in New Zealand
